MUSIC OF RESILIENCE AND REBIRTH IN THE JUDEO-BAROQUE
The synagogues of Bordeaux, the Portuguese Esnoga of Amsterdam, King’s Chapel in Paris—communities across 17th-century Europe united members of Sephardic, Ashkenazi, and other Jewish traditions. Composers reveled in the vibrancy of Jewish life while also nodding to darker stories of persecution and finding a communal resilience that remains relevant today.
