Information about giving

The Bloomington Early Music Festival depends on donations from businesses and individuals like you to produce the many different events and programs that it offers. Like many other arts organizations, ticket sales alone do not cover the complete amount of the actual costs of producing the events. Individual and corporate support assists us with more than 60% of our operating needs each year.

BLEMF is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation, which means that your generous contribution can be claimed as a charitable gift on your tax returns.

In-kind donations

In-kind donations are very helpful and can include technical and professional services, consulting, and discounts on supplies and services. Our beautiful Festival Booklet is printed at a generous discount by World Arts Printing and musicians that arrive at the Indianapolis International Airport are brought to Bloomington by Classic Touch Limousine, Inc. service.

Financial donations

Financial donations are the bread and butter that BLEMF depends on. If you haven't yet joined the very generous group that supports us, right now would be the perfect time!

Individual Contribution Levels

The following levels of giving:

Can be directed towards our different funds:

Please feel free to contact us if you would like to know more about these different levels of giving and funds. If you already know how you would like to give, please use the following form to send in your donation.

The Mary Tilton Memorial Fund

Created in memory of past president and longtime BLEMFsupporter Mary Tilton, the Tilton fund is dedicated to presenting concerts by an emerging keyboard artist. The Tilton family named the Mary Tilton Memorial Fund in its requests for memorial contributions in her honor, and this fund is growing. Any size of gift, including a pledge to the Honor Circle, can be designated towards this fund. Please consider making a donation or pledge to honor the work of Mary Tilton now.

The Alain Barker Fund

Created in 2004, the Alain Barker Fund seeks to honor the decade of work by BLEMF's first Executive Director to shape the Festival into its present form, a concentrated annual program of early music concerts and educational programs in early summer plus additional concerts and outreach programs throughout the year. His success helped BLEMF become regionally, nationally and internationally recognized as perhaps the leading venue for young and emerging talent. BLEMF supporters immediately and generously responded to the Fund's creation. It is an endowment fund so principal will always be preserved, but it is hoped that continued donations and a growth of major gifts will soon bring it to a level where the income it generates can provide funding for BLEMF's educational undertakings and outreach programs as well as for special guests invited to perform at the Festival in May.

Major Gifts and Bequests

Please contact us if you are thinking about how you could make a lasting gift to support our in-school educational programs, or some aspect of each year's Bloomington Early Festival. We can help by suggesting many different ways to make a major gift or pledge, or help you consider putting Early Music Associates, Inc. in your will. Please call the BLEMF office to schedule a confidential meeting with our development staff.

Individual and Corporate Festival Sponsorships and Underwriting

Just about every concert or event that BLEMF produces can be underwritten. This is a classic "win-win" situation — BLEMF gets to produce a wonderful concert and the underwriter not only gets the satisfaction of having helped to create that event, but also the public recognition for such help. The public benefits by having getting to attend a great concert or to learn at a unique educational event.

We have lots of different events in the works, so just get in touch with us to see what might be right for you personal or company needs.

Festival Underwriter - Full credit for sponsoring this year's festival. A naming opportunity on all literature and publicity, advertising space and editorial mentions in all programs, announcements at events, extensive presence on the website, etc. This is a high visibility promotional opportunity.

Festival Event Sponsorships - A sponsorship opportunity is available for each of the events at the festival. Sponsors are thanked in the program book and website, receive verbal thanks before the event, receive reduced advertising in the program book, and a number of tickets to the underwritten event.
